BACKGROUND & ORGANISATION
Background
To be the Parent Support and Information Team Warrant Officer for the Portsmouth Area. To maintain morale discipline and welfare and to support training needs in accordance with KRRN and BR3. To help ensure personnel assigned to the Parent Support and Information Team are supported throughout their parenting leave and to ensure that those who are Personnel on Recovery Duty (PRD) return back to effective service employment or to provide support through the transition process to civilian life.
- He/she is to provide support and guidance to all personnel assigned to the PSIT for Parenting leave who are assigned to MA4 MA11 and MA12 margins.
- To manage the PSIT staff within the PSIT office. To authorise/advise of issues within the PSIT and provide OIC PSG with regular feedback.
ORGANISATION
The post holder fits into COB/Executive as shown:
- The Recovery Cell comprises of a partnership of NBC and Project Gunwharf personnel and is located in HMS Nelson (but under the functional control of PSG in HMNB Portsmouth). PSIT WO is responsible to the OIC PSG and is supported by 1 FTRS(HC) Petty Officer and 2 Project Gunwharf JRs (who are rank ranged OR2/OR4).
- The Post holder is Line Manager/1RO to nominated FTRS(HC) PO PSIT Assistants and all personnel who are assigned to the MA4 MA11 and MA12 margin.
- The Post Holders 1RO and line manager is OIC PSG 2RO is The Commander HMS Nelson.
RESPONSIBILITIES |
Primary Purpose: - To deputise for the OIC PSG as required and to constantly maintain an overview of all activities within the PSIT to ensure a cohesive interface report and maintain liaison with OIC PSG and The Commander HMS Nelson (as applicable) on matters regarding the PSIT.
- Act as DO to all personnel assigned to the MA4 MA11 and MA12 margin (irrespective or rank or rate).
- Interview all individuals within his/her PSIT division ensuring an Individual Recovery Plan is generated (if applicable)
- Interact with the Department for Community Mental Health RN FPS NFF Pastoral teams and relevant medical agencies to ascertain SME input as required.
- Oversee the PSIT Office Space ensuring that it is fully compliant with HSE policies.
- To manage all JPA assignments for personnel assigned to the MA4 margin.
- To conduct regular staff meetings with the PSIT Deputy and assistants LWTR Release office and Maternity Writer to evaluate the requirements and output of the PSIT
- To act as the PSG representative on the Unit Health Committee.
- To attend the weekly Management meeting with OIC PSG OIC RC PSG WO and PSG Depco
- Attend case conferences as required.
- To attend regular staff meetings with the PSG team
- Produce regular divisional updates to the OIC PSG and attend the weekly divisional update meetings (when required).
- To keep NBDO duties on a rotational basis with the other Lts Capts (RMBS) SLts WOs and CPOs from Portsmouth Naval Base.
- Ensure the PSIT FTRS(HC) PO maintains the digital resources ensuring that they are all compliant with current policies.
- Maintaining good order discipline and the well-being of the PSIT in accordance with KRRN and BR3.
- Maintaining contact as required directly or indirectly with the widely dispersed PSIT personnel and those assigned to the MA4 and MA11 margin.
- To conduct regular home visits of his/her division. This may include travel / stay out of area to: attend court whenever requested to represent a unit as DO or whenever a member of the PSIT Division appears in court hospital visits including any Mental Health facilities and if necessary remand facilities (including Civilian and those committed to MCTC).
- Provide on-job training for PSIT Assistant 1 and 2 in order for them to effectively fulfil their responsibilities and duties within the PSIT office.
- To liaise directly with financial institutions Service and local charities Parenting organisations hospitals police civil courts RN FPS employers and LMs and parents/guardians (U18 or with permission of over 18 year olds) of members of the Division on non-policy matters.
Secondary Purposes and responsibilities
- Provide regular briefings to new CM courses about the role of the PSIT.
- Provide external assurance to Establishments and units that are overseen by Portsmouth PSIT including regular assurance visits and Divisional Outreach sessions.
- To attend the weekly Executive meeting in the absence of OiC PSG.
- To assist bereaved Service families with funeral arrangements when required. If Funeral Officer trained.
ACCOUNTABILITYThe WO PSIT is accountable to OIC PSG and The Commander HM Nelson for all matters relating to the PSIT. AUTHORITYThe WO PSIT is: - Authorised to release signals on PSIT matters.
- Authorised to liaise directly with MOD Departments NMA/Assigning Authorities Heads of Departments and EWOs of Ships and Establishments civilian authorities and parents/guardians (U18s or with their permission over 18-year olds) of personnel within the PSIT on non-policy personnel matters.
- Sign PSIT related correspondence on behalf of NBC and COMPORFLOT.
