About the company

Remote World is partnering with a UK-based accounting firm to hire for this role. They serve small and medium businesses across the UK and are expanding their remote bookkeeping team.

The role

Youll handle day-to-day bookkeeping for a portfolio of SME clients recording transactions reconciling bank accounts preparing VAT returns and producing monthly management accounts. Youll work in Xero and become a trusted pair of hands for your clients.

What youll do

• Record transactions and reconcile bank accounts in Xero
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns and submit to HMRC
• Produce monthly P&L and balance sheet summaries
• Chase outstanding invoices and manage accounts payable
• Liaise with clients to resolve queries and missing documents

What youll need

• Solid bookkeeping experience using Xero or QuickBooks
• Understanding of UK VAT and basic accounting principles
• Organised and deadline-driven clients depend on accurate timely work
• Good communication skills for client-facing queries

Nice to have

• AAT qualification or studying towards it
• Experience with payroll processing
• Familiarity with Dext or AutoEntry for receipt capture
