Job Summary

Duties:

The Speech Therapist assesses patients for speech related therapy needs establishes treatment goals develops and implements appropriate Speech Pathology treatment program. This role reviews medical history applies screening tests and meets with patient to determine clinical needs impairments functional limitation and disabilities.

-Establishes a plan of care in collaboration with patient and family to include expected intensity duration of therapy and makes recommendations for discharge.
-Provides education to patient family and/or caregiver regarding purpose of activity use of equipment home exercise and activity.
-Performs regular re-examinations and seeks feedback from patient family and multidisciplinary medical team.
-Manages multiple patients at the same time. Provides services and required documentation timely accurately and in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
-Participates in outside continuing education and incorporates information into practice.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
-Additionally the Speech Therapist II assists with orienting new staff and acts as clinical instructor for interns.
-Conducts literature reviews and staff consultations as needed.
-Attends specific clinical education coursework which meet the guidelines of California Board of Physical Therapy and provides in-services to staff.

Required Skills & Experience:
-Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
-Experience and knowledge base in a wide range of diagnosis including general medicine orthopedics neurology cardiopulmonary gastroenterology and otolaryngology.

Required Certification & Licensure:
-Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of California.
-Current BLS Certification required.
