The Position
External Affairs International (EAi) part of the Roche Pharma CEO Office ensures the company can shape the policies funding decisions and market conditions that determine how healthcare innovation is valued and rewarded. We influence globally where strategic priorities are defined and enable locally where business impact is delivered. Through focused advocacy and a connected global network EAi builds trusted relationships with governments multilateral institutions and global partners develops third-party advocates and forges alliances that protect and grow Roches business while improving patient access to innovation.
The Opportunity
As Global Policy Lead Health Policy you will set the direction for Roches global policy positioning and advocacy agenda. You will inspire initiate and lead policy and advocacy strategies that are future-ready digitally enabled and aligned with Roches vision of advancing science and access for patients.
You will directly engage with senior leadersboth internally and externallyto position Roche as a trusted thought leader shaping the global health and innovation agenda. By leveraging advanced analytics competitive insights and new technologies (including AI-enabled policy monitoring and digital advocacy tools) you will ensure our strategies are evidence-based proactive and globally influential.
This role goes beyond policy analysis: it is about translating complex environments into compelling strategies forging senior-level coalitions and building an external voice that influences policy decisions worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
C-Suite Policy Engagement: Act as trusted advisor to Roches Executive Committee and senior leadership on global policy priorities providing actionable insights and strategic counsel. Lead Roches external engagement with health system industry and political leaders at the C-Suite level.
AI & Digital Advocacy: Integrate AI and advanced digital tools into policy analysis monitoring and advocacy execution. Use data science digital campaigning and predictive analytics to anticipate policy shifts and shape the global conversation.
Global Strategy Development: Design and implement impactful global policy and advocacy strategies that are sustainable measurable and aligned with External Affairs International policy priorities.
Competitive Insights & Analytics: Establish a system for continuous competitive intelligence on global health policy pharmaceutical innovation and access trends. Translate insights into strategic options for Roche leadership.
External Advocacy Leadership: Build and lead coalitions with industry peers associations NGOs think tanks and multilateral institutions. Position Roches voice credibly in key global debates.
Capability Building: Advance global policy and advocacy capabilities across the Policy Chapter and affiliate network embedding analytics digital engagement and agile ways of working.
Trusted Partnering: Collaborate with External Affairs International teams Global Access Pharma International Diagnostics and other functions to co-create solutions that support sustainable access and Roches long-term business model.
Who You Are
8 years of experience in global policy advocacy government affairs or senior advisory roles in life sciences healthcare or other highly regulated industries.
Demonstrated ability to engage C-Suite stakeholdersinternal executives political leaders and external business leaderspersuasively and credibly.
Strong knowledge of global and supra-national policy systems institutions and industry associations with a proven track record of shaping impactful policy outcomes.
Experience applying AI digital platforms and data analytics to policy and advocacy work.
Excellent strategic agility: ability to translate competitive insights into actionable strategies for Roche.
Exceptional communication skills: able to synthesize complexity into clear compelling narratives for senior audiences.
Established global network and demonstrated success in building advocacy coalitions.
Strong leadership skills comfortable with decentralized agile and diverse teams.
