skilled SolidWorks Electrical Engineer to support the development of electrical schematics and wiring harness designs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in SolidWorks Electrical working from hand markups and creating standardized component libraries. This role will initially focus on schematic and harness design independent of 3D models with future integration into full 3D electrical design workflows.
Develop electrical schematics using SolidWorks Electrical based on hand-marked drawings and engineering inputs
Design wiring harnesses for GSE (aerospace ground handling equipment)
Create and maintain electrical component libraries including: - Symbols
- Manufacturer parts
- Attributes and metadata
- 2D/3D models
Define and standardize generic electrical components such as:
- AC/DC power sources
- Power supplies and battery systems
- 3-phase motors and motor controllers
- Relays connectors and protection devices
Prepare detailed electrical documentation: - Wiring diagrams
- Cable schedules
- Terminal layouts
Support electrical system design for GSE equipment such as: - Ground Power Units (GPU)
- Tow tractors / pushback vehicles
- Service and maintenance vehicles
Collaborate with mechanical and design teams for future 3D integration
Ensure compliance with relevant electrical and safety standards (IEC ISO aviation-related norms where applicable)
Maintain version control and proper documentation of design revisions
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
25 years of experience with SolidWorks Electrical
Strong understanding of: - Electrical schematics and wiring systems
- AC/DC power distribution
- Industrial and automotive electrical components
Experience working from hand markups/redline drawings
Knowledge of wiring harness design for vehicles or equipment
Ability to create and manage component libraries
Experience in Ground Support Equipment (GSE) automotive or heavy equipment industries
Familiarity with: - Electric vehicle systems (battery motor drives charging systems)
- PLCs and control panels
Experience integrating SolidWorks Electrical with 3D CAD (SolidWorks 3D)
Knowledge of standards such as IEC ISO or aviation-related guidelines
