Job Summary

Dorchester County Public Schools is currently seeking a dynamic Supervisor of Intervention who will play a pivotal role in shaping how we intervene when our students need us the most. This position islocatedat theCentral Office. Dorchester County Public Schools is in the midst of dramatic systemwide improvement and is entering the first year of implementation of our ambitious Believe in Us: Achieving Our Potential Together Strategic Plan. This is a unique opportunity to help lead transformational work from the ground up as part of a creative results-focused leadership team. The Supervisor of Intervention provides strategic leadership for Tier 3supportwithin the districts Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) ensuringtimely coordinated and effective responses to student needs related to attendance behavior mental health and safety. This roleleadsthe districts systems for crisis response threat assessment and intensive intervention ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while prioritizing student well-being and access to learning.

Aligned to the DCPS Strategic Plan this position ensures that students experiencing the greatest needs receive comprehensive coordinatedsupportsthat remove barriers and promote successful outcomes. This position reports to the Director of Student Services and will supervise School Social Workers Pupil Personnel Workers (PPWs) mental Health Services Coordinator and assigned staff.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership & Systems Coordination

  • Leads the development implementation and continuous improvement of Tier 3 intervention systems aligned to MTSS and the DCPS Strategic Plan.
  • Ensures a coordinated district-wide approach to intensive studentsupports including attendance interventions behavioralsupports and mental health services.
  • Developssystems to ensuretimelyidentification referral and response for students in need of intensive support.

Supervision & Program Oversight

  • Supervises and evaluates school social workers PPWs and the Mental Health Services Coordinator.
  • Ensuresstaff are implementing intervention practices with fidelity and aligned to district expectations.
  • Provides professional learning and support focused on crisis response intervention strategies and compliance requirements.

Attendance Intervention & Compliance

  • Oversees district-wide attendance intervention processes including truancy legal compliance and enforcement.
  • Ensuresaccurateimplementation of policies and procedures related to attendance residency and pupil accounting.
  • Collaborates with schools and external agencies to address chronic absenteeism through targeted intervention.

Mental Health & Crisis Response

  • Coordinates district-wide mental health services and partnerships with community providers.
  • Oversees crisis response protocols ensuring readiness and effective implementation across schools.
  • Leads and supports behavioral threat assessment processes in alignment with state requirements.
  • Collaborates with law enforcement and community agencies to address safety and mental health concerns.

Alternative Placements & Intensive Supports

  • Overseesprocesses for alternative placements andsupportsfor students requiring non-traditional educational settings.
  • Ensuresappropriate coordinationof services for students with complex needs including wraparoundsupports.

Data Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitors data related to attendance discipline mental health and intervention outcomes to inform decision-making.
  • Provides regular reports and recommendations to the Director of Student Services and district leadership.

Compliance & Policy Alignment

  • Ensurescompliance with all applicable federal state and local regulations related to student services.
  • Reviews and supports the development of policies and procedures related to intervention systems.

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university in social work counseling psychology education or related field.
  • Pupil Personnel Worker endorsement and Administrator I endorsement or Supervisor of Pupil Personnel endorsement. * Must complete either Administrator I endorsement or Supervisor of Pupil Personnel endorsement within one year of appointment if not currently held.
  • Licensure or certification as a School Social Worker Pupil Personnel Worker School Counselor or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in student services mental health or related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in crisis response student intervention systems or program supervision.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to student services attendance discipline and mental health.
  • Strong organizational problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills including the ability to work with multiple agencies.
  • Ability to make decisionsin accordance withprecedents rulesand regulations.
  • Abilityto apply Board policy to daily workdecisionsexercise good judgment
    courtesy and tact in dealing with all stakeholderson the telephone writing and in person.
  • Demonstratesproficiencyin computer and word processing skills especiallyMicrosoft Office Suite applications (Word Excel Outlook Calendar and PowerPoint) Google Drive etc.
  • Must be ableto work independently onroutinecomplex and confidential tasks.
  • Must maintain good attendance record and be willing to work outside of general
    working hours occasionally.
