Radio-Canada Colombie-Britannique is seeking a Supervising Technician based in this role you will be responsible for filming and editing on a regular basis while providing creative leadership to the operations team. We are looking for an innovator who can help modernize our filming and editing workflows and elevate our visual storytelling.
You will work under the supervision of the Operations Producer with support from platform-specific producers for individual projects. As a subject matter expert you will also be expected to work independently and provide guidance to colleagues.
Key tasks:
Participate in all stages of planning production and packaging of audiovisual items.
Capture high-quality video primarily using Sony cameras and mobile devices (iPhones).
Edit video content primarily using Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Perform editing for Vidéojournal newscasts.
Develop and share workflows for new shooting editing and streaming formats for video.
Adapt and export edits across different platforms (digital radio TV).
Work with maintenance staff to ensure the smooth operation of field editing equipment (laptops).
Provide expert advice and support to operations colleagues on relevant systems.
Train new staff members and update department management on their progress. Organize training sessions.
Be able to pursue the acquisition of story elements with minimum supervision ensuring a high degree of accuracy quality and creativity.
This role requires full-time on-site presence.
What You Bring:
Objective criteria:
Technical knowledge and understanding of daily television radio and digial video program production methods. Knowledge generally gained through community college graduation in multimedia arts.
Four (4) years experience working in editing or the media arts.
Ability to edit recorded items on appropriate/available editing systems such as Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Excellent command of French (French-speaking work environment).
Passion for details.
Resourcefulness to find solutions to maintenance issues when specialized staff are not around.
Intermediate oral writing and reading proficiency in English (BBB).
Valid drivers licence.
Ability to work various shift patterns including overnights and weekends often in unexpected overtime situations.
