Summary:
As a Sustaining Engineer at North Atlantic Industries (NAI) you support and enhance the performance reliability and lifecycle of advanced embedded electronic systems with a focus on analog and mixed-signal circuit design and synchro/resolver-based technologies. This role is critical to maintaining high-reliability products used in aerospace and defense applications ensuring continued operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Support sustaining engineering activities for high-reliability electronic assemblies including analog and mixed-signal circuit designs
- Troubleshoot analyze and resolve issues in legacy and production hardware including synchro and resolver interface circuits
- Perform root cause analysis on field returns and production failures; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Design test and validate analog circuitry including signal conditioning filtering and data acquisition systems
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing quality and design engineering to ensure product performance and compliance
- Update schematics bills of materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation to support product changes and obsolescence mitigation
- Develop and execute validation and verification test procedures for electronic systems and subsystems
- Provide hands-on technical support to production including debugging PCB assemblies and test stations
- Evaluate and qualify replacement components for obsolete or end-of-life electronic parts
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability manufacturability and cost optimization

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- 37 years of experience in electronics engineering with emphasis on analog circuit design
- Direct experience with synchro/resolver technology including excitation signal conditioning and decoding techniques
- Strong knowledge of analog and mixed-signal design (amplifiers filters ADCs/DACs precision signal chains)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot circuits at component and system level using standard lab equipment
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g. Altium OrCAD or equivalent)
- Background in aerospace defense or other high-reliability electronics environments preferred
PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience with Analog Devices Blackfin DSP programming or embedded processing platforms
- Understanding of digital signal processing (DSP) techniques related to resolver-to-digital conversion
- Familiarity with FPGA or microcontroller-based system integration
- Proficiency with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes spectrum analyzers signal generators)
- Strong analytical problem-solving and debugging skills in complex electronic systems
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering-driven environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with cross-functional teams
