The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) as part of the Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to join our Education Team.

About the role

The Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer (Education) to lead the development and delivery of highquality education projects that build understanding appreciation and support for biodiversity conservation across NSW.

In this role you will manage endtoend education projects from planning and codesign through to delivery and evaluation ensuring programs are evidencebased fitforpurpose and responsive to diverse audiences including landholders and community stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with internal teams external partners and providers and contribute to the sharing of biodiversity conservation knowledge including local and Aboriginal ecological knowledge.

This is an opportunity for a skilled project manager with a strong background in environmental or ecological education to make a meaningful impact at a statewide level balancing multiple priorities while delivering highquality outcomes on time and within scope.

About You

Were looking for an experienced and motivated professional with a passion for environmental education and biodiversity conservation and the ability to turn strategy into highquality practical programs with real impact.

You will bring strong project management capability and experience delivering education or engagement initiatives ideally within environmental conservation or public sector contexts. Youre comfortable managing multiple projects at once working autonomously and partnering with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.

Youre a confident communicator who can translate complex concepts into clear engaging educational material for diverse audiences including landholders community groups and government partners. You value collaboration are evidencedriven in your approach and use evaluation and feedback to continually improve programs and materials.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience designing coordinating and delivering education or engagement programs or projects
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage scope timeframes quality and stakeholder expectations
  • Knowledge of biodiversity conservation and/or environmental education including relevant policy or statutory contexts
  • Experience working with external partners contractors or codelivery providers
  • Welldeveloped written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • A collaborative and adaptive working style with the confidence to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science conservation natural resource management or a related field or equivalent professional experience

Experience working with Aboriginal stakeholders and incorporating local or traditional ecological knowledge into programs will be highly regarded.

This role requires a valid Working With Children Check and a current Australian drivers licence with the ability and willingness to travel across NSW as required.

Essential Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science Conservation Biology Natural Resource Management a related field and/or demonstrated equivalent professional experience
  • A Working with Children Check is an essential requirement for this role. The role has been identified as requiring a check in keeping with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
  • A valid Australian drivers licence and ability and willingness to travel throughout the state on a regular basis.
  • Ability and willingness to travel out of hours/weekends when required.

The New South Wales Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) is a not-for-profit statutory body established under Part 10 of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and managed by a Board appointed by the Minister for the Environment.

The Trusts roles are to support and encourage landholders to enter into agreements to conserve and protect biodiversity on private land guided by the governments Biodiversity Conservation Investment Strategy; secure biodiversity offsets when developers choose to pay into the Biodiversity Conservation Fund; and other activities that promote greater awareness of appreciation and understanding of biodiversity and the importance of conserving it.

We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.

Participation in the NSW Biodiversity Offsets Scheme (BOS) and the BCTs private land conservation (PLC) programs

The successful applicant for this role will be required to declare any conflict of interests related to the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme as defined in the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme Conflict of Interests Protocol. This ensures the department is made aware of potential conflicts of interest so they can be appropriately managed.

Where an applicant has a high-risk defined interest in the Biodiversity Offsets Scheme they may be required to divest this interest before being employed by the department.

The BCT also has restrictions on staff participation in its funded PLC programs. No additional funding beyond that already agreed to by the BCT may be sought or approved during time as a BCT employee or for a 12-month period following termination of employment.
