Summary:
Residents are expected to have an adult learner mentality a devotion to lifelong learning and a passion for delivery of excellent care to the population served based on scope of services in the department.
Responsibilities:
a personal program of self-study and professional growth with guidance from the faculty.
in safe effective and compassionate patient care under supervision commensurate with their level of advancement and responsibility.
fully in the educational and scholarly activities of their program and as required assume responsibility for teaching and supervising other residents and students.
in institutional programs and activities involving the medical staff and adhere to established practices procedures and policies of the institution.
in program/departmental/institutional committees especially those that relate to patient care activities.
in evaluation of the quality of education provided by the program.
an understanding of ethical socioeconomic and medical/legal issues that affect graduate medical education and how to apply cost containment measures in the provision of patient care.
with established ethical behavior and practices.
to federal state and HQ deadlines and requirements regarding licensure and registration for the practice of medicine.
to the Office of Graduate Medical Education and the residentï½s program/department for information related to position/rank and function.
to all departmental GME Nuvance Health and ACGME policies and procedures.
in activities that allow a healthy examination of and joyful engagement in the physicianï½s role. Take full advantage of resources provided by the program that support a positive attitude.

regular reliable and predictable attendance to conferences lectures and other academic learning assignments with the understanding that patient care always comes first.
