Job Description:
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the expectation task list is to identify and clarify what management expects from the incumbent. The following expectations and tasks will be part of the annual performance appraisals; your merit increase will be based on the level of performance in each of the following areas.
Expectations may change year to year and both parties should use the annual performance appraisal to determine realistic and equitable goals and outcomes for the upcoming performance year.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP(S):
- Supervised by the Relief Frontline Supervisor
Expectations & Task LIST:
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to shift to receive verbal report and remain when necessary in crisis situation
- Read and initial Communication Log on each shift as part of a team effort to coordinate the plan and progress of clients
- Read through client files to ensure pertinent information is acknowledged.
- Provide supportive and crisis counselling when necessary.
- Advocate with community agencies on clients behalf.
- Provide emergency services and referrals to callers and walk in clientele.
- Monitor the activities of the clients/residents and maintain availability for personal practical and morale support; may include providing safe storage and recording of prescribed medications.
- Accurately records pertinent information in Communication Log and complete Serious Occurrence reports when required.
- Conduct Facility Security/Safety and Maintenance Checks on every shift ensure safety & security of the facility at all times continual monitoring of cameras required.
- De-escalate and stabilize domestic violence situations involving partners family members and others from the community.
- Record all facility problems in the Maintenance Request Binder
- Complete Pre-Admission Screenings and intake procedures
- Respond to Police Community Agencies and other referral sources according to policy
- Ensure Admission and Discharge Procedures are completed
- Ensure that all donations received are organized accepted and recorded
- Respond to all crisis calls; ensure safety plan is provided when necessary.
- Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the facility
- Ensure that dinner is prepared
- Encourage Clients to follow Centre Rules and Expectations on a consistent and regular basis
- Complete client List and Daily Activity Sheet
- Ensure that all Taxi Vouchers transit tickets are recorded in appropriate places
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to the Centres Employee Handbook and Policy and Procedure Manual
- Governed by Violence Against Women Act
- Adhere to standards that are consistent with the values & philosophy of The Salvation Army
- Engage in formal Evaluations Sessions with Supervisor at 3-month probation during first year of employment and quarterly supervisions thereafter
- Agree to and sign Confidentiality Statement
- Function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Adhere to the centres Health and Safety Regulations
- Make suggestions that will improve efficiency working conditions or procedures to Management.
- Represent the organization in a professional manner and attitude.
PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED:
- The performance of the job may require moderate amounts of lifting cutting chopping and carrying supplies/donations. The performance of the job may also require a frequent amount of sitting and keyboarding occasionally bending walking standing and lifting up to 10 pounds.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- The successful job applicant will have completed College Diploma in Social Services Field or equivalent with training in housing crises difficulties and women abuse.

- Valid WHMIS and First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid class G Drivers License
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $18.14 to $18.14 with a maximum of $18.14.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
