As a Correctional Staff Physician you will be responsible for providing quality medical care to meet the healthcare needs of the patients within the facility while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.
Responsibilities
The Staff Physician is responsible for performing physical exams diagnosing and treating illnesses and managing chronic conditions ensuring care is provided to protect the rights dignity and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:
- Formulating working diagnoses developing and implementing treatment plans and evaluating/modifying therapeutic regimens
- Evaluating patients who have returned from off-site treatment
- Responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies throughout the facility
- Coordinating leading and participating in educational and training activities related to medical care for patients
- Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units
- Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations including court mandates and standards
- Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients needs
Qualifications
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
- Medical degree (MD or DO)
- Must hold a current unrestricted license as a physician in STATE
- A current DEA registration in STATE
Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family or Internal Medicine.
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills.
- Experience in general medicine a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices and the ability to collaborate with medical team
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of applicable laws regulations and industry standards
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies procedures and legal requirements
- Must pass the facilitys criminal background check and drug screening
