One of our International Oilfield Services client is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to be based in Dhahran Saudi Arabia.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Lead Mechanical Engineer provides technical leadership for all mechanical engineering activities on large-scale industrial projects spanning FEED detailed design construction and commissioning. This role is accountable for the mechanical integrity of all static and rotating equipment piping systems and mechanical packages. The successful candidate will be a seasoned EPC professional with hands-on site experience and proven ability to manage complex mechanical scopes on large industrial capital projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead mechanical discipline engineering from FEED through commissioning including scoping design documentation and field support.
- Develop and review mechanical equipment datasheets specifications and purchase requisitions for static equipment (vessels columns heat exchangers tanks) and rotating equipment (pumps compressors agitators).
- Manage equipment vendor selection technical bid evaluations and vendor document review and approval processes.
- Lead piping and mechanical layout design stress analysis coordination and pipe support engineering in collaboration with piping/structural disciplines.
- Ensure mechanical designs comply with Saudi Aramco engineering standards ASME API and other applicable international codes and standards.
- Participate in and action HAZOP HAZID and mechanical integrity reviews; maintain mechanical engineering risk register items.
- Coordinate with process civil/structural electrical and control systems disciplines to resolve cross-discipline interfaces.
- Provide on-site construction support including technical query resolution inspection hold point reviews and mechanical completion verification.
- Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for mechanical systems; support performance testing and handover.
- Mentor and guide mechanical engineering team members; review and sign off on team deliverables.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience on EPC projects in oil & gas petrochemical or industrial processing.
- Experience on DLE brine processing mining or lithium projects is a significant advantage.
- Strong knowledge of static equipment design (ASME VIII) rotating equipment and piping engineering (ASME B31.3). Deep understanding of play plans and equipment layouts required.
- Familiarity with Saudi Aramco engineering standards (SAESs) or equivalent national oil company requirements is preferred.
- Owners engineering or PMC-side experience in addition to EPC background is a significant advantage.
- Hands-on field experience during construction and commissioning phases is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in piping design software and mechanical engineering tools; familiarity with 3D plant design platforms (AVEVA S3D SmartPlant or equivalent).
- Proven experience managing mechanical engineering teams in multi-discipline EPC project environments.
- Strong English communication skills; Arabic language ability is an advantage.
