Job Summary
This position performs a variety of routine tasks in the kitchen tray line and dishwashing areas according to standard practices and procedures.
Serve/Food Preparation
- Serve on tray assembly line involving duties such as serving food pouring soup adding desserts arranging trays stacking trays on carts.
- Deliver dishes and trays at designated times and rooms.
- Conferring with patients in order to understand their food likes and dislikes.
- Accurately records meals served and monitor temperatures of food using appropriate logs.
- Serve meals using standards to maintain sanitation and quality.
- Review menu and assemble foods supplies and equipment for daily food preparation.
- Follow standardized recipes.
- Assists with prep list grab and go and stocking the café and galley.
- Documents weekly thermometer calibration on appropriate logs.
Sanitation
- Ensure compliance with sanitation.
- Remove items from carts and trays sort and rinse dishes and silverware load operate and unload the dishwasher stack or store washed items as required. Clean dishwashing machine.
- Prepare load and/or transport food carts. Clean carts on return to kitchen.
- Wash pots and pans. Perform heavy cleaning duties such as scraping scouring rinsing pots and pans utensils and equipment.
- Collect process and dispose of trash can bottles and similar debris and transport to disposal area.
- Completes cleaning duties as assigned on weekly and monthly cleaning list.
Departmental Support
- Assist in the care and maintenance of department facilities equipment and supplies as directed.
- Store stock appropriately in order to maintain cleanliness and prevent food spoilage.
- Participates in meal planning.
- Reports any issues or problems that may arise to the Integrated Services Director /Dietary Supervisor.
- Assists with the counting of monthly inventory.
- Scheduled shift times may vary based on staffing requirements and operational needs.
Basic Clarke County Hospital (CCH) Performance Criteria
- Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular reliable attendance.
- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA DIA DNV OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read write and speak fluent English.
Experience: Previous experience in food preparation. Preferred: Culinary and/or food service experience in a health care facility. Familiar with clinical diets.
License(s)/Certification(s): ServSafe certified (within 1 year of employment)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: High attention to detail. Able to read and interpret common recipes. Strong customer service skills. Preferred: Culinary and/or food service experience in a health care facility.
Shifts & Schedule: Typical shifts 11am-7pm - Due to scheduling purposes be flexible to work 7:30a-3:30p. Every other weekend and Holiday rotation. 40 hours per week. Full Time.
