Senior Corporate Counsel - Employment


What you will be doing:

Working under the supervision of the General Counsel the Senior Corporate Counsel - Employment will be primarily providing legal advice guidance and support to Premiers human resources organization. This position will function as the key legal resource overseeing all areas of employment benefit management vendor and supplier management litigation support policy management mergers and acquisition support HR compliance and various other areas as they relate to Human Resources.

The position requires working independently on complex legal matters with various business teams and senior management and providing legal guidance that is clear and actionable in a time sensitive manner. The position will interact with Premier executives vendors regulatory agencies and with outside counsel on assigned matters.

Additional responsibilities will include training sessions on relevant legal matters monitoring current legal developments related to areas of responsibility as assigned by the General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and advise with respect to claims and enforcement of employment agreements and restrictive covenants compensation documents severance plans and applicable procedures.

  • Assist with the periodic review and update of onboarding documents for new employees including offer letters employment agreements confidentiality agreements etc.

  • Assist with the periodic review of employee benefit plan documents and other benefit contracts as needed

  • Advise HR team on matters relating to new hires transfers and terminations of employees and with respect to temporary and contract labor including background check process

  • Participate in the review and maintenance of the companys Employment Policies and other related documents

  • Advise HR team on management of contingent labor and independent contractor programs.

  • Advise HR team of new laws pending legislation or other compliance matters as they arise

  • Mergers & acquisitions experience including transaction diligence and employee integration

  • Aide in the oversight of HR compliance program

  • Litigation support including handling all labor and employment disputes that arise company-wide and in multiple jurisdictions including EEOC complaints wage and hour disputes FMLA/ADA matters and wrongful termination

  • Consult with other members of the legal team on employment labor and compliance matters as they arise.

  • Manage matters related to offshore labor and visas


Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

Years of Applicable Experience - 10 or more years

Education:

Juris Doctorate (Required)



Required Certifications/Licensing

Active Member of a State Bar

Preferred Qualifications

Skills:

  • Experience providing employment advices & counsel for white collar workforces

Education:

  • JD with strong academic credentials

Working Conditions: Air conditioned office space


Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US


Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves remaining stationary most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if movement is required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.


Premiers compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable equitable and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premiers internal salary range for this role is $164000 - $305000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including but not limited to departmental budgets internal equity education unique skills/experience and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
