Job Summary

The Instrument and Electrical Technician (I&E Tech) will be responsible for maintenance of instruments and electrical systems in the Allyns Point manufacturing plant. This position offers candidates the opportunity to become a team member on a close knit team working in a fast paced challenging work environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working as an electrically skilled person as defined in the Electrical Work Practices. Longer term as this person gains experience he/she will be expected to perform the role of facility representative as defined in the electrical work practices.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses instrument and electrical problems and selects and implements corrective actions.
  • Removes and replaces components at the board level.
  • Identifies DCS and PLC hardware problems and replaces cards.
  • Troubleshoots and programs PLC software.
  • Calibrates process instruments according to applicable standards.
  • Operates and maintains instrument and electrical testing equipment.
  • Maintains electrical hardware typically up to 480 volts.
  • Plans prioritizes and schedules instrument and electrical maintenance with supervision and technician input.
  • Designs and implements corrective actions identified in incident reports and work orders.
  • Maintains and completes instrument and electrical system preventative maintenance activities.
  • Identifies and defines required procedures and inspection frequency.
  • Generates and evaluates reliability data from the maintenance database (EMTS).
  • Determines areas of focus for reliability/cost reduction projects.
  • Requests/performs failure analysis as needed.
  • Designs instruments loops and electrical systems.
  • Specifies requisitions and installs instruments and electrical components (measurements of flow temperature pressure).
  • Serves as electrical subject matter expert on capital project reviews.
  • This job includes working outdoors in inclement weather (sometimes for an extended period).
  • This job requires climbing stairs.
  • This job may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Follows and ensure compliance of all plant safety and maintenance procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Leader.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Two years of experience as an instrument technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Two years of experience as an electrical technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred - two-year craft degree and electrical license.

Other Information

  • This position is part of the Allyns Point manufacturing organization and is located at the Allyns Point polystyrene plant in Gales Ferry Connecticut.
  • Starting salary range is $60000 - $70000 annually. Grade and salary level offered to the successful candidate will be appropriate to the job duties and commensurate with the candidates experience.
  • Benefits Include: 401k Plan with company match company sponsored healthcare plans (medical dental vision) and profit-sharing.
  • The work schedule for this position is a 5-day 40 hours per week position. The successful candidate will be expected to work some overtime.
Relocation is not available with this position.
