Job Summary

PART TIME - 21hrs

Ref:

21 Hours over 3 or 4 days to be agreed. Has on call duties as part of a rota for young peoples services.

You will be working with our care experienced young people between the ages of 18-25 . You will support young people in their own accommodation and provide support so they feel more valued and secure and ready to take the next steps. Part of this role you will assess readiness for living support to developing the skills and confidence to live independently and transfer the young person to a permanent Includes promoting healthy relationships with family partner peers etc accessing hobbies and extra-curricular activities and managing finances and budgeting.

You will work with and manage 1 support worker.

Your positive attitude towards your work and your team will help to contribute to a great working environment. You will have a calm and personable manner and be able to handle potentially difficult situations.

JOB PURPOSE

To manage and be part of a team that supports our clients to keep them safe and help them achieve their goals.

To provide people with homes and specialist support so they feel more valued and secure and ready to take the next steps.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend relevant meetings regarding clients or with stakeholders/commissioners where required
  • Reports and data will need to be run and provided where required
  • Ensure staff are supporting clients to address all issues i.e substance use mental health or debt and including improving practical skills in areas such as budgeting shopping cooking housework laundry health & hygiene
  • Work with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community
  • Help to maintain a welcoming safe environment identifying and minimising all potential risks to users of the premises the organisation and property
  • Carry out quality checks on client records to ensure organisational standards are upheld
  • You will work flexibly across all areas of operation where required and prior notice given
  • You will be part of the oncall service
  • To adhere to safeguarding responsibilities following our safeguarding policy and procedure ensuring these are followed at all times
  • To help maintain health and safety ensuring clients visitors and buildings are safe in accordance with Health and Safety regulations policy and procedures
  • To work confidently and efficiently when lone working
  • To ensure accurate records on our client management system and compliance with GDPR through regular quality control checks
  • To maintain confidentiality
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties required in the interest of the organisation

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role has line management responsibilities
  • This role has finical authorisation responsibilities
  • This role has on call responsibilities

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This role will require an Enhanced with Barred List(s) disclosure and barring service check is a requirement for this role. This would be completed on appointment of the role.
  • This role may require you to work flexibly across several sites
  • This role will require you to work with clients on a one-to-one basis
  • This role may require you to lone work

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR ROLE (Minimum requirements on appointment to this job)

Previous experience in this type of work is not essential but you will have a real passion for wanting to work with young people. Your values will match ours; you will be committed to helping others and enjoy the real job satisfaction that this brings.

  • Clear verbal and written English and great communication skills
  • Basic IT and keyboard skills
  • Polite assertive manner
  • Passion for working in a client/customer facing role
  • Have an interest and genuine concern for young people and related issues
  • Experience of working in a residential or institutional or similar
  • Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies
  • Have an interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Experience of working in a leadership role
  • Understanding of the complex support needs of people experiencing homelessness or those with complex needs
  • Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies housing regulations and the benefits system
  • Understanding of risk assessment and person-centred outcomes-based delivery
