The Position: Senior Assistant Tenure-Track Librarian for Health Sciences and Community Services.

Position Starts: Summer 2026

Salary: Salary commensurate with education and experience. (Anticipated hiring range: $7127 - $15211 per month).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than the start date of the position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disciplinary terminology and familiarity with the latest methods used in health sciences or community services related research and scholarly publishing.
  • Experience in teaching or providing health sciences or community services research assistance in a library medical or other related environment. Teaching experience accrued as a graduate student will be considered.
  • Effective oral written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

The Health Sciences and Community Services Librarian will provide information literacy instruction in-depth research consultations and reference service to faculty undergraduates and masters students in both face-to-face and online environments. This position will collaborate and contribute to the development delivery and assessment of library instructional and outreach services and will work in a collaborative setting to improve teaching learning and inclusivity at the Meriam Library.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Serve as the liaison to health sciences and community services programs including the School of Nursing Public Health & Health Services Administration Child Development and the School of Social Work.
  • Provide instruction faculty consultation and student research assistance to liaison departments and programs.
  • Meet research publication and service requirements to attain tenure.
  • Work with other librarians to develop and implement information literacy instruction across disciplines.
  • Develop shared instructional materials in a variety of formats.
  • Pursue outreach efforts to engage the students and academic community.
  • Engage in collection development activities in assigned subject areas.
  • Participate in shared reference consultation and related activities.

Out of State Employment: All work must be performed within the State of California. Faculty assignments include in-person duties that require an on-campus presence.

Authorization to Work: Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States. For faculty already in the United States who hold a valid nonimmigrant visa (such as F-1 J-1 or O-1) Chico State may consider filing a petition to change their status to H-1B if the fee does not apply.

Mandated Reporter: The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21 2017) as a condition of employment. The person also will have a duty to report to the campus Title IX coordinator information pertaining to discrimination harassment sexual misconduct or exploitation dating or domestic violence stalking and/or retaliation under CSU policy.

Clery Act: Chico States Annual Security Report includes summaries of institutional policy relating to campus safety drug and alcohol use sexual assault and other matters.
