Role: Microwave & OTS Design EngineerLocation: Edmonds (Hybrid - 3 days in the office)
Contract Duration:
Max INC Rate for E5: $125.78/ ()
Max T4 Rate E5: $103.95./ ()
Max INC rate for EIT: $65.80/
Max T4 rate for EIT: $54.38/
Experience and Role Accountabilities
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive and comprehensive engineering experience in the design and engineering of telecommunications systems
- Develop safe engineering solutions by using initiative and judgement to perform tasks including developing designs analyzing and resolving problems and interpreting engineering specifications on medium complexity and scope assignments for BC Hydro projects and operations
- Assist project or operations management to meet safety cost quality and time objectives by proposing changes in plans and estimated costs recommending payment for work completed by contractors preparing progress reports coordinating work schedules and other similar tasks
- Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information recommending safe engineering designs to support successful operations and/or project completion at BC Hydro
- Participate in BC Hydros engineering practice by conducting independent studies and analysis contributing to the development of technical standards exercising judgment in selecting and interpreting information recommending safe engineering designs and making decisions related to methods and designs as well as providing guidance and advice to other engineering professionals to develop future capability at BC Hydro.
- In depth technical knowledge in the planning and deployment of point to point microwave networks including frequency planning link budget calculations site selection and path survey
- Experience in development and application of engineering standards technical report writing and the ability to undertake technical design reviews
- Strong knowledge of IP networking and MPLS technologies is desirable
- Excellent leadership communications (verbal and written) technical writing interpersonal and presentation skills are required
- Good understanding of project and task management processes
- Proactive in ongoing professional and personal development activities such as self-study attendance at technical and administrative courses and participation in technical and professional societies
- Excellent organizational and management skills. Must be a self-starter.
- Strong knowledge of Microwave & OTN transport Equipment is desirable
- Bachelors or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering recognized by Canadian Universities
- Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC)
