Electrical Engineering Intern

Job Summary
Under the direction of shop management and Engineering the electrical engineering co-opuses engineering principles and design software to help designandassistindevelopingandmaintainingelectrical control systems and/or components to required specifications focusing on economy safety reliability quality and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
Electrical Design (90% of duties)
- Performguideddesign work for projectsutilizingprinciplesofmechanical orelectrical engineering.
- Utilizes computer software drawings and other tools to perform engineering tasks.
- Assistin coordinatingmanufacturing installation maintenance supportdocumentationand testing activities to ensure compliance with specificationcodesand design requirementsunder the direction of the supervisor.
- Assistinestablishingconstruction manufacturing or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
- Assistinspectingcompleted installations andobservesoperations to ensure conformance to design and equipment.
- Reviewdrawingstoensure technical and regulatory compliance.
- Able toprovide information and technical support to internal and externalcustomersthat meet customer and company expectations.
- Responsible for reviewing jobs to ensure the job meets or exceedsCustomerexpectations.
- Coordinate with customersregardingspecification/design questions and clarifications.
- Work with Purchasing and Vendors to receive quotes and lead times to complete design.
- Understanding ofbasic electrical and control system principles anda familiaritywith reading electrical schematics three-line diagrams and control / communication diagrams.
- Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts within the company to achieveobjectives.
- HSEQ DOT OSHA compliance andconformancedelivered an excellent safety record.
- Competent withAutoCADandMicrosoft Office Suite (Word Power Point Excel Outlook).Math Skills.
- Excellent communication skills organizational skills (coordinate multiple group efforts with the company to achieve results)andproblem-solving skills.
- Ability toidentifyprocesses needing improvement and recommendations towardsimprovement.
- Maintaining electrical equipment.
- Able to follow directions regarding assignment and Customer expectation on projects.
- Understand andfollowscompany policiesstate federal and safetypolices.
- Able to work overtime (nights and weekends) to complete jobs in progress.
- Other duties as assigned.
Electrical Testing (10% of duties)
- Assistin performingpower testing of protective relay panels medium voltage switchgear line-ups test communication and HMI components on the relay panel. Testing also involves switchboards automatic transfer switches and other power distributioncomponents.
- Assistin reviewingproject specifications andimplementstesting procedures tocomply withproject requirementsunder the guidance ofdirectsupervisor.
- Assistin reviewingtest plans of large projects against schematics
- Assistinmaintainingtestfolder for all projects with relevant test reports test drawings and test pictures.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Associates degree or 4 years of experience.

Additional Information
Compensation: $22 - $30/hour
Physical Demands: Lifting a maximum of 50lbs on a daily crawling climbing standing for long periods of time and working in non-ideal conditions.
