About Reception House
Reception House is a non-profit community-based organization that delivers quality settlement integration and support services to refugees and newcomers in Waterloo Region. Since 1987 Reception House has helped thousands of refugees rebuild their lives in Canada through specialized programs and services designed to help them become established in their new communities.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full time Program Development Manager leading our Community Initiatives team. The Program Development Manager will lead and manage projects and grants that address or enhance service delivery. The Program Development Manager will complete visibility studies community assessments and work closely with internal managers to identify gaps in services. They will develop project concepts to address identified needs and write tailored grant applications that align with organizational goals. The scope of projects will focus on service delivery gaps and enhancements potentially in the areas of women children youth and seniors services. They will be responsible for project development including workplans project goals and evaluation as well as project implementation and management throughout the grant period. The Program Development Manager will participate in the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) contributing to organizational-wide growth success and workplace culture.
What youll do:
- Manage new and existing projects as assigned throughout the grant period by maintaining donor and funder relationships ensuring grant compliance and financial expectations providing reports and updates on progress.
- Complete visibility studies and community assessments to determine service gaps within the community and develop program concepts to address those gaps.
- Work closely with department managers to identify current or upcoming funding gaps develop project concepts to address those gaps.
- Source and secure funding to implement the new programs or projects.
- Research qualitative and quantitative data gather client stories and other information needed to write tailored grant applications and secure the necessary funding.
- Develop detailed work plans with clear timelines evaluation and deliverables aligned with organizational goals.
- Develop and manage project budgets in consultation with the Finance Manager maintain finance-related documentation and create budget reports when needed.
- Manage the implementation of projects and new programs including all coordination and facilitation as needed.
- Collect feedback and stories from participants in order to evaluate the project and inform subsequent funding opportunities.
- Work with the HR Manager to recruit and source employees or volunteers when needed to assist with project facilitation and delivery managing them as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams when needed to ensure a holistic approach to developing Reception House services is taken.

What youll need:
- Completion of an accredited post secondary degree or diploma program in social services community development or equivalent education and experience in settlement and non-profit sector or international human service fields.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in settlement services project management and grant writing with at least 2 years experience in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience with program development in the settlement sector is preferred.
- Knowledge of Waterloo Region community resources for refugees and newcomers is an asset
- Demonstrated experience delivering services to clients with diverse backgrounds and experiences including trauma.
- Intermediate-advanced computers skills including proficient use of MS office 365 and digital platforms for data entry and reporting and navigating databases.
- Excellent research skills and ability to navigate the internet to find resources and funding opportunities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced writing skills for story telling persuasion and professional communication.
- Aptitude for learning and understanding programs and funding requirements of the organization.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while effectively managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities.
- High drive and initiative with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with various groups.
- Takes proactive steps to build relationships solve challenges and improve services.
- Manages multiple responsibilities and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- Builds relationships easily with colleagues funders and external partners.

Working conditions:
- Ability to travel within Waterloo Region when needed for events.
