Job Summary
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to support surgical services in a hospital environment. The role is responsible for ensuring the proper decontamination sterilization preparation and distribution of surgical instruments while maintaining strict infection control and patient safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean decontaminate and disinfect surgical instruments and medical equipment
- Disassemble sort and inspect instruments for cleanliness and functionality
- Assemble surgical trays accurately using count sheets
- Package wrap and label instruments for sterilization
- Operate sterilization equipment (steam ETO Sterrad Steris washers ultrasonic cleaners)
- Maintain sterilization records logs and biological testing documentation
- Store and distribute sterile supplies to surgical teams efficiently
- Manage inventory and restocking of surgical instruments and supplies
- Follow infection control protocols and proper PPE usage at all times
- Maintain a clean organized and compliant work environment
- Support operating room staff by ensuring timely availability of sterile instruments
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Basic computer skills required
- Strong communication skills required
- Must meet one of the following: Anatomy & Physiology course completion passed Anatomy exam SPD certification or 3 years of recent SPD experience
- Ability to obtain or maintain SPD certification
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of Sterile Processing experience
- SPD Certification (HSPA/IAHCSMM preferred)
- Prior hospital or surgical setting experience
