Senior Software Engineer Full Stack (Python)

Build the rails of digital commerce across Africa. If youve worked on card switching payment gateways issuer/acquirer integrations or high-volume transaction systems this is the kind of problem space you dont come across often. Were partnering with a fast-scaling fintech (processing millions of transactions across Africa) thats rebuilding how payments infrastructure worksfrom checkout to settlement.

The current need is for a Senior Python Software Engineer who understandsmoney movement systems. This is your big chance to own systems end-to-end; You will play a key role in building and evolving core commerce and payment flows ensuring systems are robust compliant and able to scale under high transaction volumes.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design build and integrate technical requirements alongside the team across the full commerce product portfolio.
• Ensure secure scalable and compliant payment processing to the back-end and effective troubleshooting and debugging of Commerce issues.
• Independently diagnose and propose solutions for issues and incidents leveraging logs monitoring and code analysis.

OUR REQUIRED EXPERTISE

• 8 years of experience in cloud-based back-end engineering (must have)
• Strong experience in payments card switching gateways or fintech infrastructure (must have)
• Strong experience with Python and TypeScript (must have)
• AWS experience (Lambda API Gateway Serverless) (must have)
• Database experience (MySQL MongoDB) in high-concurrency environments
• Proven ability to design scalable fault-tolerant systems handling financial transactions
• Experience working on systems where uptime accuracy and security are critical
• Ability to maintain and evolve systems in line with modern engineering best practices
• Strong ownership mindset able to take features from design through to production
• Comfortable working in a remote cross-functional environment
