Job Description:
The College of Dentistry is recruiting a Sterilization Supervisor to manage the daily operations of the Central Sterilization unit in the Department of Clinic Administration. This unit provides sterilization services to the UFCD dental students and faculty by providing sanitized dental instruments for patient care. Overall duties include leading and developing the team of Sterilization Technicians ensuring safety standards and regulations are consistently met while maintaining efficient operations so that instrument kits are properly washed verified packaged and sterilized accurately and in a timely manner.
Lead coordinate and perform daily sterilization duties
Ensure all three locations of Central Sterilization operate safely accurately and efficiently by engaging the team confirming their knowledge of the necessary tasks and focus for completion of duties safely and efficiently
Ensure all federal state UFCD and industry standard regulations and guidelines are maintained
Develop central sterilization team as DANB Certified Sterile Equipment Technicians
Ensure staff is properly trained before performing sterilization duties
Manage daily staff assignments coverage for lunches breaks and scheduling adjustments in the event of staff shortage
Ensure both student leasing instrument kits and reusable equipment is properly disinfected and sterilized verified wrapped or bagged labeled accurately and in a timely manner for pick-up
Replace broken or missing instruments
Dispense clean instruments to dental students and departments using computer program INFO-DOT. Collect track and process dirty instruments according to sterilization protocol.
Ensure all requested instruments for courses and other activities are sterilized and ready for pick-up or delivery
Inventory
Ensure all area supplies are ordered and levels are adequate
Perform (along with staff) periodic inventory counts of instrument kits
Manage instrument kit inventory using axiUm and Metalcraft ID system
InstrumentMaintenance
Ensure equipment is being properly oiled and maintained
Inspect and evaluate for burs that need to be replaced and requires attention to very minute details
Manage the missing and broken instrument process using axiUm and Outlook messaging
Maintain equipment maintenance schedule and arrange for necessary repairs
Performance Management
Conduct team meetings when needed to announce changes in safety protocols operations new sterilization techniques or other business functions and also to promote team building and communication
Conduct check-ins with TEAMs staff through UF Engaged to discuss performance give feedback and hear feedback
Follow-up on staff issues and concerns involving upper management and/or HR if necessary
Communicate frequently with other team members such as OPS or student assistants to ensure proper performance feedback is given throughout the year
Perform other duties as assigned
Expected Salary:
$22.00 - $23.00 per hour; commensurate with education and experience

Certification for Sterile Processing such as CRCST or CSPDT offered by the CBSPD and/or Infection Prevention such as CIDPC offered by DANB/ADS
