Job Description

The Lawn and Turf Technician will be responsible for maintaining the health and aesthetic quality of residential and commercial lawns including aquatic areas. Key duties include fertilizing aerating overseeding pest control and aquatic weed management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently while adhering to company safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include the following:

• Chemical weed and grass control around trees shrubs and flower beds.

• Insect control on trees shrubs and in flower beds.

• Respond to stinging insect complaints i.e. wasps ants bees etc.

• Preventative inspections of plant materials on campus.

• Equipment cleaning and maintenance.

• Recordkeeping and documentation on all applications.

• Fertilization on plant materials to ensure proper growth and health.

• Mandatory training.

• Assist the horticulture crew in their routine assignments.

• Identify lawn or plant diseases to determine the appropriate course of treatment

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

Required licenses certificates and /or security clearances:

• Limited Lawn and Ornamental Holder Bureau of Entomology and Pest Control

• Must possess a valid Florida drivers license and must meet the Universitys standards for approved drivers. Unacceptable driving records (as stated in the Use of Equipment and Vehicles Procedure 1.17) include the following (for three years from the date of each occurrence):

  • More than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in 3 years

  • More than 2 moving violations and/or accidents in any 1 year

  • A major conviction in the last 3 years including (but not limited to) driving while intoxicated leaving the scene of an accident reckless driving and/or homicide or assault by motor vehicle.

Compensation:

The hourly pay range for this position is $18.00 to $19.00. The final offer will consider the candidates skills qualifications and experience along with applicable state regulations internal equity and business needs.
