Job Summary

Hi there were Article. Since 2013 we have been redefining the furniture industry one sofa at a time its not easy it requires solving challenging meaningful problems. This is where you come in as our Interior Design Service Manager (18 month fixed term) youll lead and evolve our design services program helping customers bring their spaces to life while driving a high-quality seamless experience from inspiration to purchase.

Why We Need You:

In our Customer Experience team Interior Design Services (IDS) plays a key role in helping customers bring their spaces to life. Were looking for a resilient and adaptable Interior Design Service Manager to step into this 18-month fixed term and lead the program through an important period of continuity and growth.

Youll guide a team of designers maintain strong design quality and ensure the service continues to feel seamless thoughtful and easy for customers to use. This role is about building on whats working today while identifying opportunities to improve how the service operates and shows up across the customer journey.

This role ladders into our broader goal of creating seamless inspiring furniture experiences from first click to final room. Youll help strengthen how design connects to our product improve how customers discover and engage with the service and drive meaningful impact on conversion and customer satisfaction.

In your first few months youll get up to speed on the current program build trust with the team and ensure a smooth transition. By the end of your contract youll have strengthened the IDS program so it feels consistent scalable and set up for continued success.

About the Team:

The Interior Design Services team sits within Customer Experience and focuses on helping customers create spaces they love. Youll be leading a group of 7 contract interior designers and 1 administrative coordinator working together to deliver thoughtful high-quality design support across residential and commercial projects.

This team blends creativity with structure. Designers focus on creating inspiring customer-ready spaces while staying connected to product timelines and business goals. Youll work closely with partners across Marketing eCommerce Creative and Sales to ensure the service shows up clearly and consistently across the customer journey.

We are a hybrid team with in-office days 3 times per week of your choosing.

What Youll Do


  • Lead and support a team of contract interior designers ensuring strong design quality clear direction and balanced workloads
  • Guide the end-to-end Interior Design Services experience from first interaction to final purchase for both residential and commercial customers
  • Shape how customers discover and engage with our design services across and other touchpoints
  • Drive performance of the program by improving conversion average order value and overall customer satisfaction
  • Balance creative direction with business needs making thoughtful decisions on scope resourcing and service structure
  • Set and uphold design standards so all customer-facing work reflects Articles brand and point of view
  • Partner with teams across Marketing eCommerce and Sales to improve visibility and impact of the service
  • Improve how the team works by refining workflows tools and processes to support a smooth and scalable experience
  • Identify opportunities to make the service more useful intuitive and valuable for customers

Who You Are


Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in interior design with a strong focus on residential spaces and furniture
  • Experience leading or guiding designers either in-house or contract
  • Background in a client-facing retail or service-based environment
Technical Skills:
  • Strong skills in space planning furniture selection and styling
  • A clear and confident design point of view with the ability to translate ideas into practical customer-ready solutions
  • Ability to balance creative direction with business goals and constraints
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities
Tools We Use:
  • Experience with tools like SketchUp or similar 2D and 3D planning tools
  • Comfortable working in Google Workspace
Leadership & Coaching:
  • Sets clear expectations so designers understand priorities timelines and quality standards
  • Creates a team environment where accountability is clear and outcomes are owned
  • Provides direct thoughtful feedback to improve design quality and consistency
  • Coaches designers to strengthen their skills while supporting day-to-day delivery
  • Makes informed decisions by balancing customer needs design quality and business goals
  • Encourages continuous improvement by identifying whats working and where the team can adapt

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence partners
  • A customer-first mindset focused on delivering thoughtful and high-quality experiences
  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through
  • Adaptable and resilient with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced evolving environment
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Completion of a criminal background check

  • The salary range is $82000 to $92000. The starting salary will be determined by your transferable skills knowledge work experience and the hiring teams budget which is based on business needs market compensation data and internal equity
