Job Summary
Under supervision provides diagnostic counseling and treatment services to patients demonstrating speech voice swallowing language cognitive and/or hearing impairments as established by department policies and procedures. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with supervisor to ensure that quality service delivery standards are met and that the well-being of the consumer is never compromised.Does this position require Patient Care Yes
Essential Functions
-Under supervision screens diagnoses treats and counsels patients demonstrating communication and/or swallowing impairment.
-Under supervision performs re-evaluations and follow-up of patients seen for diagnostic session and/or for treatment.
-Conducts an educational presentation for the SLP staff.
-Conducts at least one case presentation to SLP staff.
-Under supervision counsels patients and/or families concerning Speech-Language Pathology services and relevant patient care.

Experience
Clinical Fellowship begins upon completion of masters level education in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders clinical hours required during masters degree program: 350 hours
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing mechanisms and ability to communicate that knowledge to patient and family and others as necessary.
- Patient and family counseling techniques.
- Familiarity with current treatment approaches to all communication and swallowing disorders.
- Ability to meet all documentation requirements and deadlines.
- Demonstrates dependability perseverance and flexibility.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate diagnostic and treatment results to patients families referral sources and others through written and verbal modalities.
