About the branch:

The Professional and Corporate Affairs branch is located in the Regulatory and Consumer Services division in the Department of Community Services. The branch is responsible for administering a variety of legislation in three areas of focus: health professions business professions and corporate and society registers.

Each unit is responsible for registration/licensing requirements quality assurance policy development and maintenance inquiries supporting the complaint process and supporting any legislative projects. The work is varied and incredibly important for protecting the public by ensuring they have access to competent professionals and legal business entities.

Business professions include but are not limited to insurance intermediaries real estate agents and charitable gaming. Health professions include but are not limited to physicians dental professions physiotherapists and optometrists. Finally the corporate services unit supports the registration of businesses partnerships corporations and societies.

About the job:

The Professional and Corporate Affairs Branch is looking for a motivated organized and team-oriented individual to join our team as a Licensing and Intake Officer. Reporting to the Manager Business Professions you will be responsible for providing a broad range of time-sensitive regulatory compliance and client-service functions in a busy public-facing environment. This position is the initial point of contact for the public regulated professionals businesses and non-for-profit entities and plays a key role in ensuring registration licensure and regulatory processes are delivered accurately consistently and in accordance with Yukon legislation.

The ideal candidate must have excellent client service and administrative skills the ability to interact proficiently with the public in a cross-cultural setting and aptitude to work in a professional administrative/regulatory environment. Interest in a high-energy team environment with the ability to meet critical deadlines and changing priorities in a high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality is a must.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet each of the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Experience assessing materials against established or legislated requirements.
  • Experience providing professional accurate client service in person by phone and by email.
  • Experience maintaining and managing complex databases registers or tracking systems with attention to accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Experience working in a regulatory or compliance-based environment would be an asset.
  • Post-secondary course work in business law or administration (or related field) would be considered an asset.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be equally considered.

  • Administrative and organizational skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally.
