Your role and responsibilities

You will work closely with a wide range of internal and external partners to develop coordinate and manage Suffolk County Councils active travel programme. This includes maintaining and managing the countys prioritised programme of walking wheeling and cycling schemes responding to requests from multiple sources and assessing and prioritising projects as funding opportunities arise. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans across Suffolk working collaboratively with district and borough councils to deliver innovative solutions to complex transport and community challenges. The role requires enthusiasm and commitment to promoting the benefits of active travel along with the ability to influence and engage a broad audience to support healthier more sustainable travel choices.

You will need

  • excellentproject management skills with experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously ranging in value from 100k to 2m
  • knowledge of Department for Transport (DfT) latest policy and guidance with regards to active travel
  • experience ingatheringtechnical informationtoproduce reports recommendations and advice to a wide range of audiences
  • extensive experience of representing an organisation at public meetings in difficult or challenging circumstances.

The team

The Transport Strategy team is part of the Strategic Development division helping to deliver growth in Suffolk. We are responsible for:

  • developing transport policy including the Local Transport Plan
  • securing funding and the delivery of new transport infrastructure and initiatives including active travel
  • development management ensuring new developments are sustainable in highway terms to support Suffolks growth ambitions.
