The Role
We have an opportunity for a Marine Engineer with experience or strong interest in marine forensic investigation litigation support risk loss consultingemergency response salvageinspectionandrepair and retrofit design. This role requires curiosity technical rigor and strong written communication skills.
You will have the opportunity toleadinvestigationsinvolving vessels offshore platforms ports waterfront facilities industrial sites marine infrastructure transportation assets and other specialized built environments. You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team ranging from entry-level engineers to senior management.
Responsibilities
We will provide youwiththe opportunity to manage projects independently and support engineers in the Forensics practice on projects as will support you in business development activities such as conferences and business development events.
You will be working directly with a wide variety of clients including attorneys vessel owners port and terminal owners contractors and insurance professionals on a wide range of investigations which may involve:
Marine Systems or Equipment
Mooring Towing and Anchoring Analyses
Hull Damage Assessments and Repair Plans
Dry Dock Graving Dock and Ship LiftOperations
Marine Casualtyor Accident Investigation
Structural material and mechanical failure analysis
Mechanical Failure Analysis
Equipment breakdown damage assessment and loss consulting
Root Cause Analysis
Fire Protection and Detection Systems
You may be called to serve as an expert witness in various scenarios including depositions mediations arbitrations and will support you should such matters arise.
Requirements
Bachelorsdegree in maritime or naval engineering degree in related field preferred.
10years of experience in the maritime field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one jurisdiction with the ability to obtain licensure in additional jurisdictions preferred; Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) or U.S. Coast Guard license also valued.
Ability towritereports that clearly express engineering opinions and conclusions and support these conclusions/opinions with facts and sound engineering principles preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines meet deadlines and travel to project sites as needed.
Ability and willingness to travel on short notice for certain assignments.
Ability to manage projects and teams.
Ability to develop and mentor junior engineers.
Compensation
The rate for this position generally is$155000-$ range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same pay rates may vary from the range as permitted byNew YorkEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors including operational needs individual education qualifications and experience work location and comparison to employee already in the role as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employees pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.Benefits
