Pathologist Assistant Anatomic Pathology

As a Pathologists Assistant within Anatomic Pathology you will be responsible for performing gross dissection of surgical specimens and documenting findings under the direction of pathologists. Other responsibilities include:

• Performing gross specimen photography
• Selecting tissue for appropriate ancillary testing
• Procuring tissue for research protocols
• Performing postmortem examinations and autopsy related duties including: abstracting clinical history completing clinical summary and preliminary anatomic diagnosis and previewing autopsy microscopy
• Assisting with training of residents fellows and students

• Assisting residents and staff with research projects

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Graduate of a masters level formal NAACLS accredited Pathologists Assistant program is necessary.

Additional Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology medical practices and human anatomy is required.
• You will be required to attain PA Certification (ASCP) within one year of your start date.
• American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) certification at the Fellow (F-ABMDI) or Delegate (D-AMBDI) level is preferred.
