About the role

The Senior Project Manager sits within Councils Building Projects business unit a specialist project management team responsible for the construction of new and the upgrade of existing Council building assets as directed by the annual Capital Works addition the unit is also instrumental in providing design construction buildability and planning advice on proposed future projects.

The position is responsible for the assigned projects and working towards organisational objectives to plan and monitor a program of capital and maintenance projects including managing projects from conception through to completion.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate a proactive approach to the development and improvement of strategic plans for Councils building assets and to exercise technical expertise in the field of building projects to deliver on key organisational outcomes

Skills and experience require to perform the role

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and effectively partnering to influence decision-making
  • Completion of a degree or diploma course in the applicable field or discipline and several years
  • of subsequent relevant experience; a higher formal qualification in a field of specialist expertise
  • or management; or a lesser formal qualification in an applicable field with extensive relevant
  • experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the building and construction industry with previous experience in
  • the management of construction (building) projects.
  • Experience in the preparation and monitoring of cost plans and budgets is essential.
  • Project management qualifications/certification is desirable.
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence is essential.
  • Knowledge and experience within the Local Government industry is desirable

About you

You are an experienced and results-driven project management professional with a strong background in the building and construction industry. You bring a proven ability to manage complex projects from planning through to delivery ensuring outcomes are achieved on time within scope and on budget. You excel at building and maintaining effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including internal teams contractors consultants and external partners. Your ability to influence negotiate and communicate clearly enables you to drive informed decision-making and achieve successful project outcomes.
