Position Summary:
Audubon is seeking a Senior Communications Coordinator to create visual and written content in support of Audubons mission brand and conservation goals in the Rockies and Southwest regions.
The Senior Communications Coordinator is responsible for content creation related to education development conservation and advocacy strategies across the Southwest and Rockies regions (Arizona Colorado New Mexico Utah and Wyoming). Primary duties include but are not limited to conducting research writing and editing copy designing and producing written audio visual and multimedia content and stories and planning social media and other digital content to elevate visibility of Audubons initiatives in the Rockies and Southwest regions.
This position is classified as hybrid preferred remote within the United States considered in accordance with Audubons Where We Work Policy. Hybrid employees are expected to work in an Audubon office every Monday and Tuesday and an additional two days each month of the employees choosing. Candidates should be located within commuting distance of one of Audubons offices which include locations in: Fort Collins CO.
Compensation:
$62300 - $69000 / year
Additional Job Description
Essential Functions:
Use communication tools to create content including designing and producing written audio visual and multimedia content and stories in partnership with Audubons staff.
Support Communications Manager and Digital Marketing Manager with implementation components of the communications and marketing strategy.
Develop and maintain editorial calendars manage and build email lists. Maintain and update webpages and blogs.
Design write and edit copy for print and digital channels including but not limited to newsletters reports flyers op-eds letters blogs and other collateral.
Identify opportunities to develop and tell visual stories about Audubons work and amplify and promote advocacy activities collaborating and working closely with program staff and policy teams across the Rockies and Southwest regions.
Take and edit photos and video for use in publications and media; maintain organizations graphics photo and video files.
Identify new opportunities to build community in the digital space.
Schedule post and engage with social media channels; track measure and analyze social media analytics and propose suggestions to improve performance.
Monitor trends in social media and activities and best practices of peer organizations.
Perform research to find articles stories resources or other content relevant to Audubons engagement and advocacy work across Rockies and Southwest regions.
Identify and create opportunities to feature diverse voices in materials. Highlighting voices that are often not included in the conservation field.
React quickly to capitalize on news windows of opportunities and drive content through internal and public channels.
Create and maintain media lists and reports; write and edit media outreach materials.
Translate scientific and policy information into effective communications/outreach materials.
Ensure the consistency of brand standards messaging mission vision and values with all audiences internal and external.
Ensure Spanish language translation of materials as needed.
Maintain and foster culture of safety.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelors degree in journalism communications digital media marketing or related field.
At least three years of experience in public relations journalism digital media or other communications and marketing fields. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Strong writing skills with attention to detail and grammar.
Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish is preferred.
Excellent project management skills including proactive communication on progress challenges and learning.
A high skill level and comfort with technology including experience with multiple electronic communication software and platforms such as Microsoft Office Drupal and Adobe Creative Suite.
Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and Canva preferred.
Savvy sensibilities in monitoring the news cycle to capitalize on opportunities for social media and traditional media.
Grasp of and familiarity with analytics tools.
Highly creative detail-oriented and passionate about visual storytelling that brings written content to life across all digital channels.
Skilled in using communications tools to support a call to action & advocacy.
Able to stimulate conversation on social media and connect easily with others.
A self-starter with a proactive approach to assignments one with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team solve problems with limited supervision prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Experience working in a geographically dispersed network and collaborating with others.
Interest understanding and commitment to the conservation of birds other wildlife and their habitat (especially in the Southwest and Rockies) is critical as is the ability to communicate Audubons mission goals and programs effectively and with the highest professional standards.

Must possess a valid drivers license.
Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends as required. Must be comfortable and able to travel as job demands.
