Job Summary
Position Title: Associate Director of Buntrock Commons.
Department: Buntrock Commons.
Classification: Exempt.
FTE: 1.0.
Work Schedule: The standard 40-hour work schedule is Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; flexible work arrangements can be proposed and are subject to approval by HR and relevant supervisors; occasional evening or weekend work as needed; occasional on-call response needed; travel up to 5% of the work schedule which includes local (Twin Cities metro area).
Work Location: On Campus.
Salary Range: $56000 - $63000.
Essential Job Duties:
- Oversee the operations of Buntrock Commons.
- Cultivate a welcoming inclusive and engaging Commons environment that promotes student belonging and community-building.
- Recruit train supervise and evaluate student staff to deliver exceptional customer service and Information Desk management promoting leadership development skill-building and meaningful reflection.
- Lead the development implementation and ongoing assessment of building policies procedures and strategic priorities aligned with Student Life goals.
- Partner with Custodial Services Facilities IT College Events and other stakeholders to ensure effective stewardship maintenance and enhancement of the Commons.
- Oversee building access systems including campus keys and security protocols ensuring safety and accountability.
- Coordinate key campus partnerships.
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships with departments and programs housed in or utilizing Buntrock Commons.
- Liaise regularly with Auxiliary Services (Dining Bookstore Post Office Print Center) to align services with student needs and enhance the holistic Commons experience.
- Collaborate with student organizations and campus partners to activate Commons spaces through student-centered events and initiatives.
- Act as a central point of contact for shared space usage ensuring the Commons functions as a cohesive and student-centered campus hub.
- Oversee student transportation options and resources.
- Manage and augment the Colleges transportation programs including fleet vehicles.
- Oversee reservation systems policies and procedures related to transportation access and usage including driver certification protocols and mileage reporting.
- Maintain proactive accessible communication regarding transportation options and operations for students.
- Develop and sustain partnerships with local transportation providers municipal leaders and Carleton College partners.
- General responsibilities.
- Invest in the professional development of self and the greater Office of Student Activities team through various means.
- Assist in the management and troubleshooting of relevant software.
- Actively contribute to office assessment procedures.
- Support respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds values and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
- Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
- Reports to the Director of Student Activities.
- This position supervises student workers.
Required Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience; maintain a valid drivers license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record.

- Experience:
2 years of professional/graduate college student programming leadership development and/or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education:
- Masters degree in Student Affairs Higher Education College Student Personnel or related field of study.
