The role/Te Mahi
The Otago Business School is strongly committed to Māori student success and to building culturally sustaining learning environments grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Working closely with Māori students whānau Te Tai Tuarā University Māori services and divisional staff the successful candidate will coordinate and facilitate student support including pastoral care where appropriate contribute to the work of the Associate Dean (Māori) and support outreach and engagement activities.
The role contributes directly to the recruitment retention and academic achievement of Māori students in the Division of Commerce aligning with the goals of the Universitys Māori Strategic Framework in particular Goal 5 Te Taumata Angitū Māori (Māori Student Success).

We are looking for an energetic and caring individual who is passionate about working with students and supporting Māori student success in higher education. You will be adaptable organised and confident working in a collaborative team environment.
You will also bring a positive attitude and a willingness to be flexible in a dynamic and student-focused setting.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Competency in te reo Māori me ona tikanga with commitment to ongoing development.
Proficiency in computer skills.
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
Excellent communication skills oral and written.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills.
Experience in working in a tertiary environment or with student learners.
A University degree preferably in Commerce or a related field.
Experience working in kaupapa Māori or Māori student support contexts would be an advantage.

This is a permanent part time (18.75 hours per week) position based in Ōtepoti Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is $69931 to $74609 Top of Range $80285 (pro rata).
