Responsibilities
- Make waste pickups at labs as needed.
- Prepare computer-generated packing lists labels manifests and land disposal restrictions notifications.
- Identify unknown laboratory chemicals when they are encountered.
- Perform inspections of staging accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.
- Inspect storage area for leaks or spills.
- Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations.
- Collect segregate and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
- Sampling and profiling of new waste streams or any wastes needing analytical testing.
- Maintain and manage waste profile data.
- Evaluate specialty waste materials such as gas cylinders and potentially explosive compounds and determine disposal options.
- Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications
- Valid Class B CDL
- By position obtain a hazmat and tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment
- Strong customer service skills
- Perform physical functions per job requirements
- Successfully complete a background check drug test and physical by position
- Per OSHAs Respiratory Protection Standard 29 CFR 1910.34 employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.
- College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science
- Previous experience in Environmental Services (i.e. remediation abatement emergency spill response etc.)
