Sr Cost Accountant

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems is seeking candidates for a Senior Cost Accountant position based in Vaughan ON.

Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Cost Accounting

• Maintain and update standard costs bills of materials (BOMs) labor routings and overhead rates across multiple product lines.
• Prepare monthly cost rollups and evaluate material labor and overhead absorption.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (PPV labor efficiency scrap usage) and prepare variance explanations for senior leadership.
• Review preliminary gross margin performance by product division and entity to ensure results are accurately stated.
• Partner with operations to monitor key cost drivers and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Inventory Accounting & Control

• Conduct monthly and quarterly inventory reconciliations ensuring accurate valuation of raw materials WIP and finished goods.
• Perform cycle count and physical inventory analysis; investigate variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure inventory costing is correctly recorded across manufacturing and field service locations.

M&A Integration and Operational Support

• Support integration of acquired automatic door companies including:
• aligning standard costs and BOM structures
• evaluating margins pricing and inventory practices
• integrating acquired data into corporate systems
• standardizing reporting controls and accounting workflows
• Assist with due diligence activities requiring detailed cost and inventory analysis.
• Participate in system setup testing and process design for newly onboarded operations.

Financial Close & Reporting

• Complete monthend close activities related to inventory COGS variances accruals and manufacturing P&L review.
• Prepare and analyze cost accounting reports operational KPIs and service margin data.
• Research and resolve cost or inventory discrepancies and communicate findings to divisional controllers.

CrossFunctional Collaboration

• Work closely with manufacturing procurement sales and service teams to address ad hoc cost and margin requests.
• Assist in updating cost accounting policies procedures and documentation.
• Support pricing quoting and product profitability analysis for operations and commercial teams.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting required; CPA/CMA preferred.
• 35 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing BOM/routing structures and inventory accounting.
• Experience with large ERP systems such as LN BC 365 BAAN or similar platforms.
• Advanced Excel and strong dataanalysis skills.
• Ability to thrive in a changing environment where systems and processes are evolvingincluding integration of newly acquired companies.
• A handson roll up your sleeves mindset with the ability to shift quickly between tasks.
• Strong communicator and collaborative team player who builds effective working relationships.
• Highly organized and able to evaluate multiple solutions to operational and accounting challenges.

Compensation for this role is: $70000-$100000
