Director / Senior Mechanical Engineer (P.E.)

Plymouth MN (Minneapolis and surrounding areas)
Role Summary:
This is a senior hands-on Mechanical Engineering role for a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) who can both lead design work and elevate overall engineering quality. The position blends deep technical execution with leadership project coordination and mentorship. The role may be scoped as either a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Director-level position depending on experience.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead HVAC plumbing and mechanical system design for commercial and industrial projects.
Develop system concepts; perform or oversee load calculations energy analysis and equipment selection.
Review and approve drawings specifications submittals and shop drawings.
Ensure compliance with applicable local state and national codes.
Partner with project managers architects contractors and owners throughout design and construction.
Provide technical support during construction and closeout.
Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing performance or compliance.
Leadership Expectations:
Serve as a technical authority and escalation point for complex projects.
Mentor and develop technical knowledge for designers project managers and service sales staff
Lead design reviews and enforce quality-control standards.
Help improve engineering processes tools and standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
10 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing design for commercial and/or industrial facilities.
Experience in consulting engineering design/build or construction environments.
Proficiency with AutoCAD Revit and engineering calculation tools.
Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients and internal teams.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated base salary range: $110000 $165000
