Job Summary:
The Laboratory Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory department. This position works closely with the Laboratory Director to develop policies improve procedures and enhance operational efficiency. The Manager ensures smooth workflow and quality assurance overseeing the diagnostic testing performed on blood body fluids and tissue samples.
Department Overview:
The Laboratory Department provides critical diagnostic services supporting the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. The laboratory is committed to delivering 24/7 support for inpatient emergency and outpatient needs. The facility is fully licensed under CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) and accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of the laboratory ensuring optimal workflow and productivity
Collaborate with the Laboratory Director in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including CLIA and CAP accreditation
Oversee laboratory staffing scheduling and quality assurance processes
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency
Act as a key liaison between laboratory staff and other departments promoting effective communication
Develop and maintain a productive and supportive work environment for laboratory team members
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of clinical laboratory experience
At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory leadership role (required)
Hospital experience preferred
Certifications:
ASCPAMT or equivalent Medical Laboratory Scientist certification (required)
