Position Summary
TheOperations Managerreports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for managing all elements of facility operations including budgeting purchasing event changeovers equipment maintenance telecommunications security custodial audio/visual and safety.
This role pays an annual salary of $47000-$53000

This position will remain open until July 3 2026.
About the Venue
Western Kentuckys award-winning venue the Owensboro Convention Center is a full-service facility overlooking the scenic Ohio River in revitalized downtown Owensboro Kentucky. The multi-purpose center boasts just under 102000 sq. ft. of available space including a 44000 sq. ft. exhibition hall the 8900 sq. ft. Kentucky Legend Pier outside over the scenic Ohio River and additional ballroom meeting and pre-function space.
The Sportscenter one of Owensboros most historic buildings opened in 1949. It is a multi-purpose 5000-seat arena that hosts concerts sporting events graduations trade shows meetings and receptions.
The Bluegrass Fieldhouse is an 88000 square foot indoor sports and events facility with the flexibility to host local regional and national events across numerous sports.
Responsibilities
- Manage overall daily operations of the facilities.
- Plan direct coordinate and review the work plan for all event changeovers.
- Meet with staff to identify and resolve problems assign work activities projects and programs.
- Monitor work flows review and evaluate work products methods and procedures.
- Select train motivate and evaluate staff.
- Provide or coordinate staff training work with employees to correct deficiencies implement discipline and termination procedures.
- Manage labor hours for staff and temporary workers.
- Report labor allocations to Finance Department.
- Participate in the development and administration of the Operations budget; Monitor and approve expenditures.
- Forecast of additional funds needed for staffing equipment materials and supplies.
- Implement adjustments as necessary.
- Manage and upkeep the facilities custodial function.
- Ensure staff is working safely efficiently and are aware of proper safety guidelines.
- Order supplies materials and tools as needed.
- Develop and maintain an accurate record keeping system; including equipment maintenance and inventory logs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in an operations position in arena convention center or public assembly facility with knowledge of set up/housekeeping and event coordination including progressive supervisory responsibility.
- Bachelors degree from accredited college/university in a related field (Facility Management Engineering Sports Management etc.) preferred.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
- Familiarity with OSHA requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills required; including excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings evenings weekends holidays and extended number of consecutive days.
