We are seeking an experienced elementary school educator to teach Science in the Middle School Program (Grade 6 and 7). You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Teaching and learning is guided and enhanced by the principles of a student-centred collaborative approach with an inquiry-based focus to deepen learning for young students.

This is a one year position to cover a leave with 0.8FTE teaching science/Grade 7 form teacher and 0.20FTE supporting learning resources.

Responsibilities:

• Create a classroom community rich in SEL for Grade 7 girls in a homeroom setting

• Plan the Grade 6 & 7 Science Curriculum in a team-based collaborative approach

• Implement dynamic and interactive lessons

• Consider the diverse needs of students in your planning and teaching offering a range of entry points and extensions to accommodate the needs of individual learners

• Utilize a variety of assessment techniques that allow for timely transparent and strength-based communication of learning

• Develop a student-centered inquiry-based and supportive culture for learning

• Integrate technology into teaching and learning in meaningful ways

• Communicate and collaborate with students parents teachers and administration to support student learning and wellbeing

• Be an active and positive participant in school life including co-curricular activities

• Support the supervision of students during non-instructional time

• Participate in wider school wide events such as community time student leadership opportunities and outdoor education experiences

• Work with select students

Learning Resources Support (0.2FTE)

• Work collaboratively with learning resource teachers to provide integrated support to Middle School students

• Collaborate with teachers to strengthen their capacity to support students with learning needs

• Foster a positive supportive learning culture that celebrates diverse learning profiles

• Support classroom learning through smallâgroup and individual instruction

Qualifications:

• B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent

• Previous experience teaching in a middle school capacity an asset

• Understanding on how to support diverse learning styles at an elementary level

• Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to be innovative flexible highly organized with attention to detail

• Energy commitment and readiness to participate in the co-curricular program and the diverse life of the school community

Employment and Application Details:

This role is scheduled to start in late August 2026 and classes begin in September 2026.

Annual Compensation: $69541-$123242 depending on experience and education.
