The Opportunity
NEPEAN Power is seeking an experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer to join our Mackaybased team. This role is ideally suited to a senior automation professional with proven underground coal mining experience who enjoys delivering highquality control solutions across the full project lifecycle.
You will be responsible for the design development testing commissioning and ongoing support of PLC HMI and SCADA systems working closely with internal stakeholders and external mining clients. The role includes a combination of officebased engineering remote automation support and onsite commissioning and troubleshooting as required.
Flexible working arrangements are available based on a 38hour week with the option of a 9day fortnight by agreement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design develop test and commission PLC HMI and SCADA systems for underground coal mining and industrial applications.
- Provide remote and onsite automation support to mining and other clients.
- Lead and participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) activities.
- Troubleshoot and faultfind control systems in live operational environments.
- Prepare and maintain accurate compliant engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering project delivery and service teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Manage engineering deliverables project progress and associated costs.
- Identify opportunities for standardisation optimisation and digitalisation across control systems.
- Promote and uphold WHS standards identifying hazards and ensuring safe systems of work.
You are a technically strong and commercially aware control systems engineer with handson experience in underground coal mining environments. You are comfortable working autonomously mentoring others and engaging directly with clients to deliver robust fitforpurpose automation solutions.
Skills & Experience
- Electrical trade qualification and/or tertiary qualification in Electrical Automation or Control Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in PLC HMI and SCADA design development testing and commissioning underground coal mining experience is essential.
- Strong faultfinding and troubleshooting capability in mining environments.
- Experience providing remote and onsite automation support.
- Welldeveloped organisational analytical and timemanagement skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with customers and internal teams.
- Familiarity with engineering and project systems such as Jira Tempo and the Microsoft suite.
