Sheet Metal Fabricator

Job Summary
The Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating assembling and repairing sheet metal products and equipment. This position involves interpreting blueprints operating specialized tools and machinery and maintaining high standards of craftsmanship. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise and a strong commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing or workshop environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Interpret and follow blueprints technical drawings and project specifications.
- Measure cut shape and assemble sheet metal components using hand tools shears and press brakes.
- Operate welding equipment (TIG MIG or spot welding) to join metal parts.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools machinery and workstations.
- Select appropriate materials for fabrication and ensure inventory levels are adequate.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe workplace.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects on time.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or a related field.
- Proficiency in using metal fabrication tools and equipment.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of metal properties and welding techniques.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with HVAC ductwork fabrication (preferred).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in metal fabrication or welding is a plus.
Working Conditions
Environment
- Workshop or manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise levels and sharp tools.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
- Occasional evening early morning weekend or holiday hours may be needed based on project demands.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures at times depending on the project or workspace conditions.

- Regularly required to stand bend and lift materials for extended periods.
- Use of hands for tool operation measuring and material handling.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and the ability to adjust
- May require physical effort and cardiac endurance while reaching with hands and arms stooping kneeling crouching standing walking balancing bending leaning kneeling walking and climbing
- Carrying supplies up to 75 lbs.
