Salary: per annum (Grade 5 SCP11-17)
Working hours: Full-time - 37 hours per week all year around

The Role
Hayesfield Girls School is looking for a skilled and proactive Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our Estates Team. This is a hands-on role essential to the safety security and enhancement of our school environment. You will work across our sites to deliver a high standard of repair and maintenance ensuring our buildings remain a first-class space for students and staff.
The key responsibilities are:
- Technical Maintenance: Carry out routine and emergency repairs including carpentry plumbing painting and minor building works to a high standard.
- Project Support: Work with the Estates Manager on a rolling programme of site enhancements and major internal improvements.
- Health & Safety: Conduct risk assessments for all duties liaise with external contractors and ensure all safe working methods are strictly followed.
- Site Security: Act as a key-holder for the school and respond professionally to urgent facilities requests as they arise.
- Vehicle & Resource Management: Ensure school vehicles are roadworthy and clean and manage the procurement of tools and materials for repairs.
- Digital Communication: Use electronic devices (Chromebooks/mobiles) to receive instructions record activities and update progress.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Practical Expertise: A proven track record in trade skills (e.g. carpentry plumbing or decorating) and a can-do approach to manual tasks.
- Physical Capability: Ability to climb ladders work at heights and move/lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Driving: A current clean driving license is essential.
- Organisation: Ability to manage your own workload re-prioritise tasks at short notice and maintain high attention to detail.
- Communication: Approachable and friendly with the ability to use tech to communicate progress and manage customer expectations.
- Compliance: Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation in relation to premises management.
Desirable Requirements
- Relevant technical or trade qualifications.
- Experience working within an educational leisure or professional facilities environment.
