Job Summary
The Senior Specialist Total Rewards (Compensation) is responsible for supporting the execution and ongoing administration of compensation programs across the organization. The role provides technical expertise and analytical support related to compensation planning market benchmarking job evaluation and pay equity and pay transparency initiatives.
This role executes core compensation processes provides data-driven insights and supports HR Business Partners and internal stakeholders in maintaining fair competitive and compliant pay practices. This is an individual contributor role. While the primary focus is compensation the role may provide backup support for benefits activities as required.
Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.
What youll do:
Compensation Programs
- Support the delivery of compensation planning activities such as triennial compensation reviews and salary structure maintenance.
- Support the delivery of annual compensation processes including progression and promotion review cycles.
- Conduct market benchmarking and compensation analysis using external survey data (e.g. WTW Mercer).
- Prepare compensation analysis and reports to support pay decisions and internal equity reviews.
- Ensure compensation activities align with internal guidelines established practices and relevant legislation.
Job Evaluation & Job Architecture
- Conduct job evaluation and role grading activities following established job architecture and evaluation guidelines.
- Prepare evaluation documentation and maintain supporting rationale for auditability and consistency.
- Provide guidance to HR Business Partners on role scope and leveling based on established criteria.
Pay Equity & Pay Transparency
- Support federal pay equity analysis modelling and reporting activities.
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of pay transparency requirements.
Data Analysis & Systems
- Develop and manage advanced Excel models and tools to support compensation calculations and reporting.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across compensation processes.
- Support preparation of compensation-related reporting for internal stakeholders.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner primarily with HR Business Partners to provide compensation analysis and guidance.
- Work with payroll HRIS HRES and other HR teams to support implementation and execution of compensation programs.
- Provide clear and practical compensation guidance within established frameworks.
Benefits Management Support
- Provide backup or high-level support for benefits-related activities as required.
- Assist with benefits-related analysis or data requests when needed.

- 10 years of progressive experience in Total Rewards.
- Strong experience in:
- Annual compensation review processes
- Job evaluation and role grading
- Federal pay equity and BC pay transparency initiatives
- Compensation benchmarking and market analysis
- Experience supporting or contributing to a Federal Pay Equity Plan is an asset.
- CCP designation is an asset.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently within established compensation frameworks.
- Practical problem-solving approach and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate compensation concepts clearly to HR and business stakeholders.
- High level of accuracy and confidentiality when working with compensation data.

The estimated salary for this position is $112500 - $137500. In determining final salary Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidates skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Companys sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
