Job Summary

Description

The Altamont School seeks anexperiencedAssistantDirector of Financeto join their accounting Director of Financeis responsible forpreparing financial reports performing account reconciliationsmaintainingthe general ledger preparing month-end close proceduresassistingwith audit preparations managing theschools tuition management system supervising accountspayableand processing payroll. This position will combine excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.

Essential Functions

  • Manages andassistswith daily accounting processes including cash receiving/depositing general ledger and accounts payablein accordance withgenerally acceptedaccounting procedures(GAAP).

  • Reconcilesallbalance sheetgeneral ledgeraccounts monthly.

  • Preparestimelyand complete financial statements and reports.

  • Manages and reconcilesbillingthroughFACTS Management Companyfor student tuition scholarships and other miscellaneous billings.

  • Provides information to parentson a routine basisregardingindividual accounts financial obligations to the school financial policies tuitionrefundsand delinquent accounts.

  • Prepare monthly analysis of delinquent accounts receivable andcollectionstatusreports tothe CFO.

  • Plays an integralrole in the annual audit by providing reconciliationsreportsand otherassistanceas needed.

  • Works withtheaccounting firm that prepares the annual 990 and provides necessary information for completion.

  • Coordinateswith the Advancement Office to ensure gifts are posted correctly.

  • Conducts routine meetings with the Advancement Office.

  • Supervisesthe Business Office Associate andbacksthis position as needed.

  • Prepares posts and reconcilesall investmentactivitiesand related accounting entries.

  • Ensurestransfers to and from US Trustseparateaccounts aretimely.

  • Coordinates with theCFOfor fixed asset additions disposals and depreciation in Blackbaud.

  • Meets withdepartment heads to project future budget needs.

  • Provide monthly analysis of budget to actual variances by departmentto the CFO.

  • Monitor departmental budgets and amounts held on behalf of others.

  • Enter data into NAISNBOAand other surveys asidentifiedprior to deadlines.

  • Ensuresaccurateandtimelydistribution of1099sto required recipients and state and federal agencies.

  • Reviewsmonthlyquarterlyandannualtaxreports includingW2s foraccuracy.

  • Remit all retirementcontributions timelyon a bi-weekly and monthly basis.

  • Processpayroll on a monthly and bi-weekly basis.

  • EnsuresStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs) arecompletedfor the Business Office.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in accountingrequired.

  • 8 years of accounting experience.

  • Non-profit experiencerequired.

  • 3yearssupervisory experiencerequired.

  • Strong financial analysis skills.

  • Strong communicationskills both written and verbal.

  • Demonstratedproficiencyin Microsoft Office particularly with Excel.

  • Experience with Blackbaudand FACTSsoftwarepreferred.
