Job Summary
The Litigation Paralegal position will provide organizational and practice specific assistance to attorneys in the Department in preparing cases from onset through post-trial including related research and analysis. Qualified candidates demonstrate professionalism attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and work in an organized efficient manner. Candidate should be flexible to work overtime as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Possesses strong technical skills and experience utilizing standard litigation software tools including Relativity Excel Westlaw LexisNexis and iManage.
Assists attorneys in preparing for depositions motions hearings arbitration mediation and trial.
Monitors court dockets and ensure compliance with regulatory agency and court-imposed schedules and orders in accordance with local state and federal rules and regulations.
Coordinates and tracks the exchange of documents/productions with opposing parties.
Conducts factual research to identify relevant testimony and case documents drafts chronologies locates potential witnesses and provides other factual support as needed.
Analyzes various types of evidence distilling key information to support case issues.
Organizes and synthesizes information by preparing summaries chronologies reports spreadsheets charts logs and coding forms for databases and other usable formats.
Assists with all aspects of the discovery process including preparing for depositions responding to written discovery and coordinating expert discovery.
Performs analytical tasks prepares witness interview memoranda reviews and summarizes documents and deposition/court transcripts and utilizes substantive coding tools.
Performs factual research using online and proprietary databases such as Westlaw and Lexis.
Assists with law and motion practice including assembling motion papers and exhibits coordinating the filing of pleadings and briefs and ensuring proper service.
Drafts common pleadings motions notices and other court filings.
Ensures compliance with federal and state rules of procedure and evidence regarding document formatting content and filing requirements.
Performs authority and fact cite-checking confirms case quotes and proofreads briefs and other legal documents.
Manages trial preparation including creating trial notebooks identifying and organizing exhibits coordinating witness schedules maintaining trial calendars and communicating effectively with opposing counsel and courtroom staff.
Assists in the preparation of post-trial filings including briefing motions for costs and sanctions and organize the case for appeal if necessary.
Maintains timely and accurate daily timekeeping records.
Supports other department activities as needed and perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Proven ability to work effectively under pressure manage multiple tasks set priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional attention to detail strong organizational skills and effective time management.
Proficiency with court rules and procedures for document filing.
Ability to interpret and comprehend a variety of legal documents including complaints answers rulings judgments affidavits motions appeals tables of contents/authorities subpoenas court dockets reports memoranda and correspondence.
Demonstrated reliability adaptability and outstanding organizational skills with an aptitude for learning new technologies.
Excellent client service skills and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with minimal supervision.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
Skilled in drafting and proofreading documents filings detailed fact summaries pleadings and other legal documents.
Ability to maintain high professional standards exercise sound judgment and proactively anticipate and address needs.
Flexibility and responsiveness to shift priorities and demands.
Willingness and ability to work off-site at a war room or courthouse during trial as required.
Education & Prior Experience
Bachelors degree preferred.
Paralegal certification is a plus.
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a litigation paralegal within a law firm with demonstrated expertise in complex litigation matters.
Experience with eDiscovery is required.
Trial experience including exhibit preparation witness preparation and management subpoena preparation collaboration with judicial assistants and trial presentation vendors and direct support of attorneys in the courtroom.
Technology
Proficiency with Windows 10 Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Pro is required; experience with Filesite is a plus.
Proficiency with litigation support applications is preferred.
Experience with Relativity or similar platforms required.
The expected pay range for this position is:
$48.72 to $58.97 per hour
Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
