Job Summary
Job Summary:Directs oversees and evaluates the activities and functions of nutritional aspects of patient care.
Reports to: Director of Patient Care Unit
Hourly range:$30.84 53.49 per hour (posted hourly range excludes overtime and bonuses which are not guaranteed)
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure that nutritional needs of the patients are met in accordance with practitioners orders and acceptable standards of practice.
- Supervise the nutritional aspects of patient care including developing patient menus for appropriate diets as specified by the by the State Department of Health and or Clinical Dietetics Manual.
- Provide patient family and caretaker dietary counseling and education upon request including assessing and evaluating patient tolerance to therapeutic diets when appropriate.
- Collaborate with other hospital services and committees (e.g. medical staff nursing services pharmacy service safety quality etc.).
- Maintain pertinent patient data necessary to recommend or modify therapeutic diets as needed to meet the nutritional needs of the patients.
- Participates in survey inspections conducted by authorized governments and regulatory agencies and ensure regulations regarding meal service delivery storage service sanitation and disposal are adhered to.
- Maintain appropriate food service department policies and procedures training guidelines competencies and review annually.
- Able to work independently and meet established deadlines.
- Conduct regular unannounced inspections of the hospital and caterers kitchens to ensure compliance with the Department of Health

Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelors Degree preferred
Certification Licensure: Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration LD status preferred.
Experience Training Knowledge: 2 years hospital dietician or nutritionist experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
This position requires lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling up to fifty (50) pounds. Stooping kneeling and/or crouching daily in delivery of patient care. Standing and walking more than five (5) hours per day; running occasionally in response to emergencies.
Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures
Environmental hazards such as chemicals solvents needles needle containers sharps blood body fluids various infectious/communicable diseases infectious medical waste radiation and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.

ASH IMMUNIZATIONS AND VACCINATIONS REQUIREMENTS Aligns with CDCs Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel
- Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
- Influenza- documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)
- Measles Mumps and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles Mumps and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
- Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
- Tetanus diphtheria pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization
- Tuberculosis Screening -Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
