Were currently searching for a Fitness Coordinator to join our Recreational Sports team in Blacksburg VA to help us in our mission. HERES WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) Youll be part of the Recreational Sports department a collaborative and student-centered organization committed to enhancing wellbeing physical activity sport and fitness through high-quality facilities programs and experiences for the campus community.
2) Youll be reporting to the Assistant Director for Fitness Programs in a regular twelve-month 100% administrative professional appointment.
3) Youll assist in the planning coordination and delivery of a comprehensive fitness program that includes group exercise Reformer Pilates personal training F45 strength and conditioning fitness assessments fitness assistants special events and intentional student development initiatives.
4) Youll support all areas of Recreational Sports by supervising and mentoring student employees teaching for-credit courses (such as group exercise instruction personal training instruction and activity courses) and organizing programs events and activities that promote health and wellness across campus.
5) Youll contribute to the development of new programs and the enhancement of existing offerings helping ensure fitness initiatives remain inclusive engaging and aligned with departmental goals and campus needs.
6) Youll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
7) Youll be offered a base compensation package between $52000 - $55000 along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance paid leave retirement tuition assistance VT discounts and so much more!

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Exercise Science Recreation or Sports Management Physical Education or related field
Minimum of one (1) certification in group exercise and/or personal training as recognized by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Accepted certifications include proctored exams from: ACSM ACE NSCA NASM or other meeting the NCCA criteria
First Aid & CPR/AED Certifications
Demonstrated management experience of a comprehensive fitness program (relative GA experience will be considered)
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Exercise Science Recreation or Sports Management Physical Education Public Health or related field
American Council on Exercise Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor Certification
Two or more specialty certifications such as: F45 Les Mills USAW CSCS 200-RYT Schwinn ACE Specialty Certificate
Experience with Pilates Reformers
Demonstrated experience in supervising leading and evaluating fitness program staff
Knowledge and ability to effectively use technology systems that support fitness program management and sales.
Familiarity with Innosoft Fusion Microsoft Suite (especially Teams) Google Drive.
