Job Title: Gymnastics Camp Assistant Counselor Pay Grade: 1
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt- Seasonal Pay Range: $$12.57-$15.71-$18.85
Reports to: Gymnastics Coordinator Revision Date: 3.10.2026
POSITION SUMMARY:
Supports the work of the Y a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development healthy living and social responsibility. Builds members and the communitys understanding of the YMCAs impact.
This position assists in the supervision of a group of children in a seasonal day camp setting with a focus on gymnastics. Provides positive engagement with youth in a safe nurturing environment. Provides quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty respect responsibility and caring.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members participants volunteers and guests. While exemplifying the Ys commitment to the four-character values of caring honesty respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries promptly.
- Leads energizing fun culturally aware safe and educational group classes as directed by the supervisor to carry out the YMCA mission and goals.
- Experience working children in grades k-5.
- Assist with supervision and instruction to gymnastics participants following the YMCA Best practices policies and procedures.
- Assists with planning and setting up lesson plans and structure of camp with Camp Lead and Gymnastics Coordinator.
- Follow all YMCA emergency and safety procedures.
- Completes incident and accident reports as necessary and reports all problems complaints or concerns of participants to the Gymnastics Coordinator promptly.
- Participates in staff meetings trainings events reviews and other scheduled events.
- Set-up class equipment ensure proper use and be accountable for housekeeping in the gymnastics area bleachers cubbies and program closet.
- Maintains attendance records in an orderly and efficient manner.
- Upholds all YMCA policies procedures standards and code of conduct.
- Project a positive enthusiastic and professional image on the job. Be punctual and dependable.
- Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administration.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age of 15
- Must have a fundamental knowledge of gymnastics skills.
- 1-2 years experience working with children is preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- CPR/First Aid/AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training completed prior to camp start date.
- Completed health form prior to start date. (if required)
